An introduction

By Samantha Parker on Aug 5, 08 01:04 PM in

Well after weeks of bugging to get this blog I can't think or what to write!!

I guess I will start with why I have decided to have a wedding blog and why I have forced my poor fiance into doing it too.

Rich and I have been together for only a year and a half but knew each other for 10 months previous. It took a long time for us to get together for one reason or another. He will tell you it was my fault and I didn't notice him. Not true at all. It was a case of crossed wires.

Anyway when we worked at the Chester Chronicle (we sat next to each other) things finally started to move our way and we started going out after a lot of interfering from our colleagues. Nosey sods but I am glad they did now!

Within 6 weeks we said the 'l' word and 10 months later Rich asked me to marry him on his birthday in Paris. It was lovely.

Within a week we moved into our home in Heswall and started jobs in Liverpool.

This blog will hopefully mean I keep my friendships with work colleagues who I am already boring to death with wedding details.

I also hope other brides past and present will share words of wisdom with me-particualry for cheap suppliers!!

Our wedding next year will be the happiest day of my life but will be tinged with a little sadness. My mum died three years ago from lung cancer. She was my best friend and the thought of her not helping me to choose my dress and see me in all my glory has been really tough.

I miss her so much but I know I have to get on with life and try to put the heartache to the back of my mind when organising our wedding day. It is what she would have wanted. She will be there anyway-she wouldn't miss it for the world.

So I guess I also need somewhere to jot down some feelings and get it out. I will say I have an excellent family support system in place. My auntie Denise has been brilliant and managed to hold back the tears when we tried on dresses together. My Auntie Ann has agreed to help with the cake. She is fantastic at making cakes. In fact she is making my cousin's 18th cake as I write.

My bridesmaid's have also been there for me and will play a big part in helping planning the day. Kim, my oldest friend is my maid of honour, Laura my cousin and my best friend, Frances my best friend from my teenage years-we were naughty!, Laura my cousin from my mum's side-apart from myself the most beautiful red head to have graced the planet ;) and then my little sis Danielle who seems more excited than anyone that Rich and I are getting married. All beautiful women who I have to make really ugly so the shine is not taken from me ;) !!!

My other close friends will play an important in the run up to the wedding and get to enjoy the day without any stressful duties. Rebecca, who got married last year has been a great source so far but is going to the other side of the earth next month to live with her new hubby Jon.
Lucy loves talking weddings which is a real bonus. Vicky, Gemma and Pippa will get bored of my wedding talk soon.

Right I am probably boring you so will get back to the day job :)
